The short-lived Eretnid Dynasty was founded by Eretna bin Jafar, Ala al-Din, a Mongol officer of Uyghur origin who established his own Beylik under Mamluk protection. After Eretna's death, his lands were nibbled away by the Ottomans in the west and the Turkoman Aq Qoyunlu in the east due, aided by internal disputes among his heirs.
