One french medal to commemorate French chemist Antoine Lavoisier (1743 to 1794), most notable for his work on the chemistry of combustion. He also pushed for chemistry to become a strongly quantitative science and used such methods in his own research. He was a victim of the guillotine craze at the height of the French Revolution.
